Important Notice
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have a valid license
/ permission from the relevant authorities to
use water craft on UK's waterways, rivers, lakes, etc. Not all inland
water is open to paddlers, some are privately owned or is bounded
by
land which is private, so do check beforehand. Membership of a
canoe union / club is very beneficial.

ZelGear Cataraft line-up
Traditional 'raft fit' sitting catarafts - TourCats
Sitting on top of the main tubes, anchoring both feet through floor foot caps / straps,
with
the body at a slight angle, as done on common
river rafts. These Cats are ideal for long distance river touring, being faster
and
easier with less drag compared to the normal flat bottomed river rafts. There
are
anchoring
D-rings
and space on the central mesh floors to secure your camping kit.
Kneeling seat catarafts - SportCats, VectoR's
Seating is kneeling on top of the flattened tube, sitting on a kneeling seat,
with the knees kept in place with knee and thigh straps and body facing 100%
forward. Toe rests assist with the 'locking in' - very easy to get off quickly when you need to. More suitable for short distance bursts (EG 40-60 minutes then rest
legs) - very comfortable for active
whitewater paddling. Seats are designed to take body weight to reduce knee compressions.
This kneeling concept is no different to the very common practice of canoeists who paddle
solo
in open
canoes using the kneeling seat / thwart, or C1 / C2 kayakers sitting on raised saddles..
You do not have to be in the kneeling position when paddling flat water.
TPU versions
TPU version TourCats will be available on request from late Summer 2018. TPU is much tougher and lighter than PVC. A prototype TPU version TourCat-2 Mini produced last year weighed only 7kg!
Logo printing for clubs etc
For a small additional fee, we can print logos on the Cats.
Choose where you would like the logo/s to go. On the front thwart, on the front inside tubes (opposite side to the existing Zelgear logo), or on the sides. We require vector format files.
